My grandpa Bob Kelly grew up in Los Angeles and to this date has 16 grand children. Robert has put in work his whole life. From being a bartender, restaurant owner, pilot, photographer, Dad, Husband, salsesman …i cherish the chance to have an idol at the top of my own family food chain. When the opportunity came one thanksgiving dinner to hop on a cruise to Catalina and Ensenada I raised my hand in a split of a second.
Knowing this may be the last trip with my Gpa one last time was surreal. I brought medium format film and the 5D. i’m so used to over doing the trips with video and photos for work and lifestyle but knew this time around listening to the wise and comedic stories my grandpa had to offer were precious.
I never been on a cruise, and my grandpa hasn’t been on one since they started them back in the late 50’s with the love boat cruise line on his 50th.
Catalina is a place we used to fly to back in the day for buffalo burgers and a hour of our time then we would fly back home.
